For patients in League City breast augmentation is a procedure where artificial implants or fat from other parts of the body are inserted into the breast tissue to produce a fuller, rounder breast appearance. Multiple different types of implants and incision locations may be used depending on the needs and preferences of the patient.
Many women develop sagging breasts after weight loss or pregnancy. They often feel uncertain whether breast augmentation or a breast lift is the best approach. During breast augmentation League City plastic surgeon Dr. Sam Sukkar may place implants to give the breasts a perky shape and restore volume to the upper breast pole. However, patients who have significant breast sagging may require a breast lift. A breast lift, or mastopexy, removes the excess skin and tissues to elevate the breasts and areola to a more youthful, perky position. During a breast lift, Dr. Sukkar can place breast implants to increase upper pole volume and enhance breast projection. You can also have a breast lift without implants if desired.
Breast augmentation using implants offers a wide variety of size and texture options. Different types of implants produce different results in regards to both look and feel. Using well-crafted implants means that you can customize your outcome in specific ways.
The fat grafting option for breast augmentation uses liposuction on another part of the body to transfer fat into the breasts. This means there will be no artificial material used which is preferable for some patients. Fat transfer procedures are typically performed by injecting the grafted fat into the breasts, which also means less or no scarring due to incisions.
Also known as mastopexy, a breast lift involves removing excess skin to tighten and raise the breast tissue.
Breast augmentation can boost confidence by improving the appearance of your breasts.

You are likely a good candidate for breast augmentation surgery if you are in good physical and mental health, are at or close to your goal weight, and are ready to realize your full aesthetic potential.
At the consultation, we will discuss implant size, type, and incision placement, along with any other goals or questions. Your League City plastic surgeon will provide detailed preparation guidelines prior to surgery.
Many women choose to go up about 1.5 to 2 cup sizes. You may want to consider your weight, height, and frame, but ultimately it is your decision.
There are several different types of implants to choose from, depending on preferred results.
Silicone implants provide the most realistic look and feel and are our most popular option. Saline implants are filled with liquid after implantation of a silicone shell which ultimately results in a smaller incision scar.
Choosing a smooth vs textured implant mostly depends on surgical factors rather than appearance, so Dr. Sukkar can make recommendations during a consultation.
While a round implant is the most common shape, teardrop implants can offer a slightly more natural-looking augmentation shape.
The profile type produces a different level of projection or height away from the chest. Which option to choose can be decided by discussing your body proportions and breast goals.
Breast augmentation surgery is performed under general anesthesia. The procedure typically takes around an hour, with additional time added for a mastopexy.
Different incisions can be used to achieve different results. Dr. Sukkar can help you decide the best fit for you.
This incision is made near the armpit leaving virtually no scarring on the actual breasts.
The most common, inframammary incision is done underneath in the breast fold and typically allows for larger implant placement.
The areolar incision is a cut made in a half circle at the bottom of the areola where a scar can easily blend in.
This method uses a small incision in the belly button, which leaves breasts completely free of any scarring.
After surgery, you will need to rest for 5-7 days, after which sutures will be removed, and you can generally resume most daily activities. Expect about 3 weeks before a full return to normal activity, including strenuous exercise. The team at the Clinic for Plastic Surgery is here to help answer any questions before surgery and during recovery.

Since anesthesia will be used during the surgery, there will be no pain during the procedure. As you recover, there will be some tenderness, but pain can be managed with medication and proper care.
Breast augmentation is performed using anesthesia, and there are common risks associated with being put under. Another possible complication is infection, as with any surgery where tissue is exposed, but this can be easily avoided with good aftercare and rest.
The results of a breast augmentation are likely to last a decade or longer. However, it is not considered a permanent, lifetime-lasting procedure, so revisions or new implants would be expected after a number of years.
Breast implants and mastopexy are both performed as outpatient surgery. You will want someone to be with you at home, including at night, for about the first 24-48 hours, especially as you recover from the effects of the anesthesia.
Most types of breast augmentation will enable you to breastfeed. The implant type should not affect breastfeeding, but the incision choice can, so be sure to discuss this during your consultation if it’s something you plan on doing in the near (or distant) future.
Patients may experience some changes to nipple sensitivity or sensation after surgery, but this is usually temporary and mainly depends on where incisions are made.
Breast augmentation cost varies depending on multiple factors, including the type and size of the implant and whether any other procedures, such as mastopexy, will also be performed. Pricing options will all be discussed in detail at a consultation.
In most cases, insurance does not cover the cost of breast augmentation. Ask us about easy financing options to make your vision a reality.
