Chin Liposuction in Houston, TX

Offered at our convenient location in Houston, TX

Chin liposuction is a minimally invasive approach to eliminating stubborn fat just under the chin and throughout the neck. It is a relatively simple procedure for patients who have attained weight loss but still have volume in this area, called the submental region. Many people also store fat in this area due to genetics and natural face shape.

Regardless of the cause, our Houston chin liposuction can help contour the jawline, eliminate the look of jowls, and enhance the overall facial profile with tiny incisions into the subcutaneous layer in order to suction these fat deposits. Surgeons only need to administer local anesthesia, and the entire procedure is completed in just a few minutes to an hour. If you think chin liposuction can highlight the facial structure you have always wanted, book your consultation at The Clinic for Plastic Surgery. Our surgeons, Dr. Sam Sukkar and Dr. Edgar Bedolla make every effort to listen to every patient's concerns and provide thorough information on every procedure they perform, including liposuction. To get started at our office today, inquire online, or call us at (281) 940-1535, and we will help you schedule your first appointment to discuss chin liposuction. We look forward to helping you find the transformative results you desire.

About Neck and Chin Liposuction

Fat development under the chin is unfortunate, especially because there is no way to sculpt this area with targeted exercise. Even with weight loss, many patients find that their "double chin" remains, often due to their genetics. If you are not quite at your goal weight, reducing this area of the body can be the most challenging part.

The submental region is also subject to sagging since the skin is typically thinner and looser, so any fatty tissue can weigh it down and contribute to a more aged look. Permanently removing fat in this area through subtle incisions of less than one centimeter is sometimes all that is needed to restore a sharper profile. Surgeons can then insert an extremely thin tool called a cannula to suction the unwanted volume away. Most importantly, these incisions are located just under the chin and/or behind the earlobes, so they can be subtly hidden. With this form of liposuction, patients can avoid worrying about the more extensive procedural steps required for a facelift or a surgical neck lift.

Candidates for Chin Liposuction

If you are considering chin liposuction, there are a few key factors that you should consider to see if the procedure will be safe and effective for your individual needs. Firstly, you should have good skin elasticity and be in good overall health without any major underlying conditions.

Houston plastic surgeons, Dr. Sukkar and Dr. Bedolla, prefer to perform the procedure on non-smoking patients, so if you are a smoker, you should demonstrate an ability to quit temporarily. Finally, you should have realistic expectations for the final results. Liposuction is not a weight loss solution, but you should be willing to maintain your weight if you would like to maintain your results. Although our surgeons permanently remove fat, new fat cells can regenerate and enlarge. Dr. Sukkar or Dr. Bedolla will conduct a full medical history evaluation to ensure you can undergo such a procedure without experiencing a high risk of developing a complication.

Personal Consultation

Chin Liposuction Procedure Steps

Chin liposuction is small-volume liposuction, meaning that your surgeon will only have to remove a relatively small amount of fat compared to other liposuction procedures. First, they will administer local anesthesia into the submental and/or earlobe region. Next, they will make one or two insignificant incisions in these areas to introduce tumescent fluid, a solution that will engorge the fat cells and safely separate them from more delicate connective tissues. The solution will also dramatically reduce blood loss through capillary constriction and further numb the area. Once your surgeon is finished with this aspect of the procedure, they will suction the loosened fat with a vacuum-like instrument called a cannula.

For submental liposuction, the cannula will only be about 3 mm in diameter, so it will hardly leave any scar on the skin long after healing. (3) With precise back-and-forth movements, your surgeon will remove these fatty areas so that the skin can retract in a way that enhances your jawline. Immediately after the procedure, you should notice a dramatic reduction in your neck and chin fullness, and over time, the post-surgical swelling will reduce. This area has less fat than other parts of the body, so the entire procedure should only take about 30 minutes to an hour. To complete the surgery, they will repair all incisions with surgical bandages and apply a compression garment to help reduce swelling.

Recovery
&Results

In the initial stages of your recovery, you may have some bruising and your chin/neck area will be slightly swollen, but the area should appear more sculpted than before. With over-the-counter medications, you should be able to relieve any discomfort during your recovery, but overall, it should not be an intensive experience. Within 1 to 3 days after your liposuction, you should be able to return to work, so long as you avoid strenuous activities. Your surgeon will schedule another appointment to evaluate your healing progress and ensure that the initial swelling is receding at a decent pace.

After about 7 to 10 days, you should be able to return to the gym and other physical activities, but you will need clearance from your surgeon. It will take a few weeks for you to completely heal, but any bruising will fade much faster. Your surgeon will give you follow-up instructions for performing lymphatic massage on yourself to prevent fluid accumulation and encourage a speedier recovery. You should expect to see the most significant improvements 3 to 6 months after your procedure; these will be your final results that will remain so long as you maintain your weight.

Corresponding
& Complementary Procedures

MyEllevate Neck Lift

A MyEllevate neck lift can create results highly similar to a facelift, but no significant incisions are required. Instead, your surgeon will only need to administer local anesthesia to insert a permanent suture that elevates the chin and neck area that meets the jawline. The suture enters 8 tiny entry points and anchors just behind each ear, providing an even contour along the bottom outline of the face. After this minor procedure that tightens the platysma muscle of the neck, you will only need to take about 3 to 6 days of downtime - much less time required for a facelift.

Kybella

Kybella is an injection that breaks down fat cells in the neck and chin area. It is made of deoxycholic acid, an enzyme released by the liver. As it comes in contact with fat cells, it destroys them and prompts the lymphatic system to remove them permanently. You will likely need a series of sessions to attain the sculpted look you desire. You may experience some swelling, but as a minimally invasive treatment, there is minimal downtime.
